Explanation of Language Levels A1 to C2
You have probably come across courses ranked from A1 to C2 if you have ever looked for the best language courses for you. The Council of Europe created the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF or CEFR) as a means of standardising the levels of language exams in various countries. Therefore, it is essential to understand the six levels and what they signify. For that reason, we’ve put together this guide.
A1 (Complete beginner)
After completing the beginner level (A1), students are competent in simple communication about well-known subjects and can follow brief talks about daily life with speakers who speak slowly and clearly.
At the elementary level, students can make themselves understood and talk about routine situations. They can ask questions and answer them with concrete information about topics familiar to them.
Students are capable of making decisions on a larger range of issues and expressing themselves coherently about events, experiences, and plans at the lower-intermediate level. When standardised language is utilised, they can understand the key ideas being discussed.
Students can understand the major ideas of complicated texts on a variety of concrete and abstract themes at this level. They can express themselves well and debate the benefits and drawbacks of various options and perspectives in a reasonably sophisticated manner.
Advanced students of the language can comprehend longer, more complex texts in detail as well as implicit meanings. They can speak informally and fluently in both their social and professional lives.
C2 (Fluency level)
Students who have reached the maximum degree of proficiency can comprehend practically everything they hear or read with ease and can speak spontaneously about any subject without making obvious grammatical mistakes.
