Relocate to the UK via Teacher Training

Teacher Training is a means by which non-citizens of the UK can relocate to the UK and train to become a teacher. If you are interested in becoming a teacher in the UK but you do not have a teaching qualification, you can enroll in the teacher training programme. Teacher training helps to get Qualified Teachers Status (QTS) and Qualified Teacher Status with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.

Requirements to Relocate via Teacher Training

To train and teach in the UK, one needs a confirmed offer of a training place offering a student or skilled worker’s visa. Training can be done in a school or university. For primary and secondary teacher training, you need:

  • A university degree
  • C or above in GCSE science
  • C or above in English and Mathematics
  • An offer of a training place from a teacher training provider;
  • An immigration status that allows you to train to teach in the UK
  • To be healthy and physically fit to train and teach.

Type of Teacher Training

Teacher training helps you to get qualified teachers status and qualified teacher status with a post-graduate certificate in education. The different programmes available are:

  • Non-salaried teacher training: This means that one cannot earn a salary while undergoing training. International trainees are required to pay training fees, usually around £12,000 to about £22,000 depending on the place of training.
  • Salaried teacher training: This is in high demand and therefore a competitive option. One gets to receive a salary throughout the programme. The trainee will most likely be required to have achieved much in his/her Bachelor’s degree and have at least 3 years of relevant work experience.

Qualified teacher status( QTS)

The teacher's training courses help one to get academic qualifications that improve employability and get a QTS. QTS is a legal requirement that enables teachers to teach in English schools.
